ASHLEY SIMPSON is originally from West Palm Beach Florida and trained at Dreyfoos School of the Arts and School of Ballet Arts before moving to New York City to train at the Ailey School in the Ailey/Fordham BFA program, studying dance and communications. While there, Ashley performed the works of such choreographers as Bradley Shelver, Nijawwon Matthews, Janice Rosario and Hope Boykin. In her sophomore year, Ashley performed with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre during their New York City Center season. Later that year Ashley joined ‘XY Dance Project’, a Contemporary company directed by Nijawwon Matthews, where she performed and toured throughout New York and New Jersey. In the 2018-19 year, Ashley was an trainee/apprentice with Complexions Contemporary Ballet and performed with the company during their New York season. Recently Ashley was honored with the Denise Jefferson Foundation Scholarship, representing her class at the Ailey/Fordham Benefit Concert. In the summer of 2019 Ashley began filming for the Warner Brothers movie adaptation of Lin Manuel Miranda’s ‘In The Heights’, as an ensemble dancer. Ashley will simultaneously complete her BFA degree while dancing and performing with Collage Dance Collective. This is Ashley’s first season with Collage.
