FLSA Status: Full-time, exempt

Collage Dance, a fast-growing and mission-driven national nonprofit organization, located in Memphis, Tenn. seeks a full-time Wardrobe Supervisor to maintain and create all costume elements for all Collage Dance productions. The Wardrobe Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of the costume shop including design integration, construction, fitting, repairing, cleaning, storing, and cataloging of costumes. This position works closely with the Production Manger, Artistic Staff and Guest Designers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the completion of both made-to-order and pulled costumes for the stage.
  • Handle and properly care for all costumes, shoes, undergarments, hats, and costume related props.
  • Manage shop equipment, including repairs, maintenance, and replacement.
  • Act as a liaison with Stage Management for fittings and production notes.
  • Create and maintain show bibles to document research, sketches, and all related materials pertaining to the build of a production or costume including photographing costumes for both new and existing productions.
  • Supervise, schedule and manage costume staff, wardrobe assistants and student workers.
  • Be present for all technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and performances.
  • Update and manage student measurement files.
  • Schedule and execute fittings.
  • Create, manage, and adhere to budgets.
  • Liaise with students regarding in-house rentals for student choreography concerts.
  • Assist in styling photo-shoots for the company and conservatory.
  • Seek out guest designers.
  • Manage and purchase pointe shoes and ballet slippers for company dancers.
  • Manage the Collage Boutique.
  • Correspond effectively with the Directors and Production Manager.
  • Participate in special projects, as assigned by the Executive or Artistic Director.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Some costume design experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to set objectives, manage, and evaluate projects through to completion
  • With notification in advance, must be able to work after-hours and on weekends, and on-tour where appropriate
  • Effective organization, time management, multitasking and attention to detail
  • Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills
  • Strong Costume Construction Skills, including but not limited to hand and machine sewing, draping and flat pattern manipulation, dying and other craft work
  • Previous experience with ballet or other dance company preferred, touring experience a plus.
