We are Reframing the Narrative! For over 14 years, Collage Dance has been working hard to inspire growth and diversity in classical ballet and the fine arts. The work is on-going, but the impacts are already visible.
With the fastest growing dance program in the region, the successful completion of an $11M capital campaign, and the construction of one of the largest centers for dance of its kind in the nation, Collage is building “roots and wings” in Memphis.
We are cementing our roots as a cultural anchor of the community-centric revitalization happening in Binghampton and spreading our wings as we represent the beauty and resilience of Memphis as one of the city’s chief cultural exports through our extensive national touring.
At every turn, Collage is shining a light on stories from communities of color that have been absent or erased from the classical arts canon. Reframing the Narrative happens when we train 1,000 kids a week in Memphis schools and in the Collage Dance Conservatory, by sharing dance with adults of all ages and abilities through our Continuum classes, and through the opulent and ecstatic performances of the virtuosic dancers of the Collective.
All of the programs, production, and people of our 15th Season are outlined in the pages ahead. It is our hope that something will connect with your passions or the missions of your organization and inspire you to join us as we tell our stories and shine our light.

Our institutional arm, the Collage Dance Conservatory, was established in September 2009 with the mission of making outstanding ballet instruction more widely accessible. Now, through on-site training at the Collage Dance Center and Turning Pointe, our in-school dance education program, we train more kids of color in a classical art form than any other non-profit in the region.

The Collage Youth Ensemble (CYE) is a select group of talented students from the Conservatory who are invited by the Artistic Director to join the CYE based on talent and moral character. Students receive hours of additional weekly training and extended performance opportunities at no additional expense or financial burden for their families.
All members of the CYE thus far have graduated to attend 4-year colleges and universities, many on scholarship, or are pursuing professional dance careers.

Help Collage bring the best dance makers in the nation to Memphis!
Gaining recognition as the preeminent dance festival in the region, this free family-focused community event drew nearly 3,000 Memphis-area residents in 2023 – and we expect more in 2024! Featuring local, national, and international arts groups, the Memphis Dance Festival brings the world of dance right into the heart of our city.
Celebrate National Dance Day with an afternoon full of live music, food trucks, community partners, small business vendors, and performances by artists like Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre (NYC), SOLE Defined (DC), Alonzo King LINES Ballet (San Francisco), Nashville Ballet, Memphis’s own Lil Buck, and nearly a dozen more regional performing arts organizations.
Collage’s Annual Jazz Gala has rapidly become one of the city’s premier annual celebrations. This elegant affair brings together over 350 of Memphis’ best and brightest for an elevated brunch, performances by Collage’s world-class professional company, and exclusive VIP offerings. A silent auction featured one-of-a-kind experiences, art work, and services from the best Memphis artists and businesses. In 2023, the event raised over $150,000 to help train the next generation of dancers and leaders at the Collage Dance Conservatory.
