Community Engagement

Collage is committed to advancing the reach of classical ballet training to underserved communities. In addition to the classical ballet training Collage offers through its conservatory, the company also offers a variety of dance workshops, summer intensives, master classes, and residencies for dancers and non-dancers of varying skill levels.

Collage’s workshops encourage students to express their emotions through movement. Students are exposed to classical and modern technique and receive hands-on instruction from company dancers. Students gain insight on how dance can be used to convey the stories and emotions of their everyday lives; in turn, decreasing the gap between spectator and performer. Workshops are also designed to expose young dancers to classical dance and spark a genuine interest in ballet training. Master classes will consist of intermediate or advanced classical ballet instruction from Collage’s Artistic Director and company dancers. Students will be instructed on the finer points of classical ballet technique, with particular emphasis on form and alignment.

Why Dance?
Students enrolled in dance and ballet programs learn the importance of dedication and commitment; they acquire the focus necessary to excel in their academic studies; and they learn to push through the boredom of repetition to reach the excitement of mastery.
Why Dance?
Ballet training helps students achieve better posture, improves flexibility, builds muscles, improves nutritional consciousness and sharpens young people’s cognitive function.
